I am Indonesian.
I speak in Bahasa Indonesia.
I live in Indonesia.

Here as you can see, I always (try to) write in English. Maybe some of you are wondering, why this Koko Wahyu should write in English. Most of my friends had the same thing on their mind when they were visiting me here. Even me, do not know the exact reason yet.

My further question: is it a pride for being Indonesian? Have to answer it.

Actually, my English is not that good, either spoken or written. I would like to boost my English by sharing my thought regularly to you all. Now I am here in my own space with no grammatical boundary to restrict me. It is just my effort to be a bit better.

Now I’m working on a company that uses English most of the time. This is a bad and good condition. It’s bad that I still don’t have English fluency yet for time being. It’s good that I am being forced to use English in most of our activities, which will be very helpful later in progress.

In honest, most of Indonesians understand English, even maybe not in each word. By writing in English, I have chance to share about me and little more about Indonesia in global scale. It gives me chance to contact and interact with them. Maybe I will make more friends from various countries and cultures across the continents.

As Mas Fatih Syuhud said, blogging is history in the making. The difference of blogging in English is you are making a history in front of many faces and backgrounds. It will add a lot to our credibility.

I am very proud to have Bahasa as my mother tongue.
Ayas yo kadit bakal lali lek ayas iki kera Ngalam saklawase.
Salam satu jiwa.

Our women basketball team of STIKOM Surabaya secures their very first champion title. They did it after survived tense games in the Final Four of Road to Campus League 2008. STIKOM played against Unesa at the semifinal games, and then beat favorite Unair team on a dramatic final game.

Back on the semifinal game against Unesa, the game rolled at very high pace. Both teams played quick offense scheme. Shocked by a full speed game from the beginning, STIKOM lost their cool and so many easy shot were wasted. There is also a major hole on low post area of the team. Unesa took the advantage offensively by grabbing most of the rebounds. Fortunately, they were also ruined their finishing shot.

Koko Wahyu

STIKOM tried to turn the table. They began to use slow tempo on offense, paired by ultra-aggressive defensive press. It worked so well. Unesa made a lot of turnover after been pressed with full-court defense for the whole time. The points started to flow for STIKOM by steals and easy baskets from the interception. It ended with STIKOM had a 49-38 won from the opponent.

Advanced to final, STIKOM met favorite Unair team. Both teams have met earlier at preliminary round by STIKOM had their unpredicted won. STIKOM once again tried to flip up most people’s belief of Unair easy victory.

The game looked so normal when Unair hammered STIKOM by huge number of easy points. Opponent’s defense forced STIKOM to made many turnovers finished by their opponent easily scored on their basket. Unair had their 11 points lead right until 3rd quarter of the game.

Determined STIKOM pulled their full effort on last moment of the game. They put off overjoyed Unair team by playing aggressive half-court zone defense and grab any possible defensive rebounds. STIKOM rapidly pulled their trigger by showing speedy fast break off the transition to cut the margins down continuously. Shocked Unair team found their guard down. They did many error and hasty unset offense.

STIKOM boiled the crowd. A surprising 3-pts shot made by Melyana near the end of the game had drawn the level. Finally, Marchel drained a 3-pts open shot when it was 4 seconds to go. When buzzer sounds, the crowd had gone wild. The whole STIKOM team and fans enjoyed their celebration of their tournament champion title.

STIKOM got IDR 3.5 millions in cash for acquiring the first spot. The female MVP award goes to Nancy, in her 1st event since she joined the squad this semester. It was fantastic! Way to go guys… Let us pull some big shots to give our STIKOM another titles. Go STIKOM!

Truely sensational. Garuda Bandung sweeps the first 2 games against Aspac Jakarta to get their ticket to the IBL Final 2008. This is the first IBL Final in the history of the club. And more, they made a fantastic record since Aspac dominated the league by playing in final games for the last 3 seasons.

The games were very tight, and both teams played at their best. Garuda scored a 83-82 victory on the first game, and grabbed a 70-68 win on their second game. Garuda’s 2-0 sweep was enough to finish this best-of-three series.

On the second game of the series, Garuda was a fantastic. For the 1st and 2nd quarter of the games, they were completely wiped out by Aspac. Using a very fast tempo in offense, Aspac went on a significant lead in points. But at the start of 3rd quarter, most of Aspac players’ physical condition were dropped, and Garuda started to reign over them.

Aspac tried to give a fight on 4th quarter. But their star-playmaker of the team, Mario Wuysang, got fouled-out at the end of the game. Garuda took an advantage of this momentum perfectly. And finally, MVP-nominee of the year, Denny Sumargo hit a 2 points-buzzer beater to clinch Garuda’s victory over Aspac.

Garuda Bandung already made their spot on the IBL Final 2008. They will face Bhinneka Solo or Satria Muda Jakarta which will have their fight this weekend. But personally, I think that Satria Muda will easily wipe Bhinneka in those games. So for me, it will be Garuda Bandung versus Satria Muda Jakarta. What a tense final, can’t wait it.

NBAE/Getty Images

It’s look like that I’ve found my new idol on the court: Christopher Emmanuel Paul, well known as Chris Paul a.k.a. CP3. Key player of New Orleans Hornets on point guard position. With 6-0 height, he is truly my man. I always love small guard with a lightning speed and quickness. That’s truly inspire me, a tiny player can be a huge factor right in the game.

CP3 was selected by Hornets on the first round of 2005 NBA Draft. Finished his rookie season with average 16.1 points, 7.8 assists, and 5.1 rebounds, CP3 was voted as 2006 NBA Rookie of The Year. He was the only unanimous selection to the 2005-06 NBA All Rookie First Team and was named Western Conference Rookie of the Month in every month(!) in the 2005-06 season. One word : WOW!

In this 2007-08 season, Chris Paul is averaging 21 points, 11.6 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 37.6 minutes of play. He helps the Hornets to achieve 56-26 record, the best in franchise history, and finished #2 in Western Conference standings.

With his maturity and passion for the game, CP3 has now become leader for his team. A truly complete point guard, he can score by himself or drive into the paint to throw excellent pass for his mates. He surely will knock 3 points shot if given an open space. Being #1 Steals Per Game in 2007-08 season will be a little proof about his defensive ability. Chris Paul also being the #1 in Assists and Efficiency Rating of the season, with my other men, Nash and J-Kidd, left behind him.

Right now, he has a big job to lead his team to compete in the playoff. Don’t know what to say, but he completely beat J-Kidd in the first 2 games of Hornets First Round Playoff against Dallas Mavericks. The Hornets now has 2-0 lead in the series. Well, it looks like Kidd and Nash will be past. Here he comes, the rising leader of the court. Still there is one big question mark: Chris Paul for MVP?
